Before your trip

Customs & Visa

Everything that happens between your plane door and the arrivals hall, in two simple steps. Each step links to our full, source-backed guide.

1

Before you land

Visa & entry

Check whether you need a visa and what to expect at passport control.

Full visa & entry rules
  • Do you need a visa?

It depends on your nationality, purpose and length of stay. Our checker gives a clear answer in seconds.

  • On arrival

Hand over your passport at immigration and say where you are staying. No arrival card to fill in.

  • Respect your stamp

Overstaying is treated seriously, with a fine and a possible ban. Plan ahead for longer stays.

  • Land borders

Arriving by road has its own checks. See the full guide before you set off.

At the border

Customs & FCR

What to declare, what stays at home, and where vehicles and returning residents need extra checks.

Full customs guide
  • Declare large amounts

Foreign currency at or above the equivalent of TND 20,000 must be declared at entry, exit and transit.

  • No dinars in or out

Tunisian dinar notes and coins cannot be imported or exported. Exchange through an authorised provider in Tunisia.

  • Restricted items

Drones, medicines, animals, plants or cultural objects: contact Tunisian Customs before you travel.

  • Vehicles & FCR

Vehicle and returning-resident (FCR) procedures depend on your residence and goods. Check with Customs; tourist allowances do not apply automatically.

Rules can change. Always confirm with Tunisian Customs and official government sources before travelling.
