Today's deals — and how to spot a real one

Tunisia is genuinely cheap by Mediterranean standards, which means there are real deals — and there's a lot of noise. We curate offers from verified hotels, airlines and tour operators, and we explain how the market actually prices itself. Here's how to find a good deal year-round.

Where the real deals are

1. Tour-operator package (flight + hotel + transfers): the best bottom-line price for most coastal resort holidays. TUI, Jet2, easyJet Holidays, Voyage Privé, Travel Republic and the major French operators (Look Voyages, Marmara, FRAM) all aggressively price Tunisia. Compare 3–4 quotes for the same dates and you'll see a 20–30% spread. 2. Hotel direct, off-peak: 5-star Hammamet and Djerba resorts in November, March and early May go for half their July rate. Subscribe to a couple of resort newsletters (La Badira, Hasdrubal, Mövenpick) — they email genuine flash sales 2–4 weeks ahead. 3. Last-minute (within 2 weeks of departure): Ryanair, Transavia, Nouvelair occasionally drop fares from European hubs to under €100 return. Set Skyscanner price alerts. 4. Shoulder-season tour packages: November–March you can find a 7-night, 4-star, all-inclusive in Hammamet from major-city EU airports for €350–€500 per person. The hotel is the same in November as in August — only the price changes.

How to spot a not-deal

Suspiciously low headline price + huge add-ons at checkout (luggage, seat, transfer, resort fee). Always quote the FINAL paid price, not the bait price. A '5-star' hotel that's actually 4 by international standards — Tunisian hotel grading is generous. Check recent (last 12 months) Tripadvisor reviews; pictures don't lie about a tired property. Dates that fall on Tunisian school holidays (early July, late August) — local demand pushes prices, you're paying inflated rates. 'No-name' aggregator sites with no recognisable brand and a too-good price. Stick to: Booking.com, Expedia, the operator's own site, and TUI / Jet2 / easyJet for packages.

The pricing calendar — when to buy

Cheapest months to fly: November, early December, mid-January through March. Avoid Christmas / New Year and Easter. Cheapest months to stay: same — November–March outside school holidays, then late May / early June, then late September / October. Most expensive: 14 July – 25 August. Prices can double. Day-of-week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday departures are typically the cheapest. Friday and Sunday are the most expensive. Booking lead time: best 4–8 weeks ahead for short-haul EU. Last-minute (within 10 days) often beats 2–3 weeks-out for tour packages but rarely for flights.

Currency play

Tunisia is paid in TND. Your home currency strength against the EUR (and indirectly the TND) matters. All-inclusive packages booked in EUR / GBP from Europe are insulated from TND swings — the operator takes the FX risk. Independent travellers pay in TND on the ground. A weak EUR vs. USD / GBP makes Tunisia even cheaper for non-Eurozone visitors. Roughly: a coffee €1, a beer €3, a 3-course local meal €10, a great hotel night €70–€150.
