In summer (April to October), Djerba is well-connected to Europe: Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Vienna, Geneva, Zurich, Warsaw, Prague, Milan, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona and a string of charter cities through TUI, Corendon, Condor, Transavia, Nouvelair Charter, Tunisair and Eurowings. Winter service is reduced — Tunis-Carthage with a domestic connection (Tunisair Express, ~1h) becomes a more reliable route from November to March.

Taxi to Houmt Souk: 10–15 minutes, around 12–15 TND. Taxi to Zone Touristique (Sidi Mehrez, Aghir, Midoun): 20–30 minutes, around 20–30 TND. Hotel transfer: most 4-star and 5-star hotels include or sell airport pickup for €15–€25. For desert trips: the road south to Tataouine, Matmata and Douz starts here. Many travellers fly into DJE, spend two nights on Djerba, then drive a 2-day Sahara loop and fly out of TUN — easy and very popular.

The airport itself

Single-terminal, recently refurbished, easy to navigate. Immigration is usually quick. Facilities are basic but functional: a small duty-free, a couple of cafés, ATMs, SIM card stalls (Ooredoo and Orange), and car-rental desks (Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt and several local operators — book ahead in summer). Pro tip: rental cars from Djerba are excellent value, and a one-way rental into Tunis-Carthage is allowed by most agencies (€60–€120 supplement).
